Rupal Mathur, md

Dr. Mathur is double Board Certified in Obesity Medicine and Internal Medicine. She has an exceptional reputation in the Houston medical community, which has led to her position as Nutrition Consultant for the Houston Rockets.

Not only is Dr. Mathur highly regarded for her knowledge and expertise, but she is also beloved by her patients because of her kind and compassionate nature. She is extremely passionate about obesity medicine, nutrition/lifestyle interventions, and wellness.

Dr. Mathur graduated as valedictorian of her high school. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Rice University Summa Cum Laude. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine With Honors. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine through Harvard Medical School at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Mathur practiced primary care for several years before deciding to transition her career to weight loss medicine. As a primary care provider (PCP), the majority of Dr. Mathur’s patients struggled with their weight, but she felt unable to help them due to rushed encounters that were focused on sick care instead of health care. Out of this frustration was born Lifelong Weight Loss in 2017, Dr. Mathur’s medical practice that is dedicated solely to weight loss medicine. Since then, Dr. Mathur has helped thousands of patients live a healthier life, and she has the privilege of providing nutrition consultation services to the Houston Rockets. She has been featured in leading publications including The Wall Street Journal and The Houston Chronicle.

Danielle is a NCCPA certified Physician Assistant. She received her bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from Tarleton State University in 2007 with a 4.0 GPA. She went on to obtain her Medical Laboratory Sciences bachelor’s degree in 2008. She began working in the blood bank at a children’s hospital in DFW for a couple of years before she learned of the Physician Assistant profession. She then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2013 with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. She worked in Internal Medicine and then Geriatric Psychiatry within the Tampa Bay area before moving back to Texas to be near family.

Upon her return to Texas, she found herself trying to understand why it was so difficult to lose weight and the pitfalls she encountered while treating patients in Internal Medicine. She began to study the etiology behind weight loss and the barriers we all face. By sheer luck, she was put in contact with Dr. Rupal Mathur who was looking to add to her practice. Danielle is in contact with Dr. Mathur daily and reviews charts with her regularly to ensure the best possible outcomes for all patients.
